FanBasis Review: Is Commas the Right Home for Your Sales?

A practical look at the rebrand, seller costs, buyer financing, payouts, and what to do if FanBasis appears on your card statement.

See which one is the right fit for you

Free. A few quick questions. No credit check to see your match.

What do you sell?

You searched for a FanBasis review. Now you are seeing the name Commas. Before you trust it with your sales, you need to know what changed and what did not.

You also need more than a list of checkout features.

A payment platform can look great until you need a clear fee quote, a refund answer, or money for payroll. For coaches and course sellers, a checkout without the right financing can also leave willing buyers unable to pay.

My verdict: Commas deserves a close look when financing and selling tools matter as much as card processing. It is less compelling if your only goal is finding a public rate you can compare without a sales call.

This review uses verified product details, published terms, and information Commas provided directly to Processor Verdict. It is not a claim that we ran live payment tests or audited the company.

Is FanBasis a legit company, and why is it now called Commas?

Yes. FanBasis is an established business that now uses the Commas brand. The name changed on July 14, 2026. The legal company remains FanBasis, Inc., and existing accounts kept working through the change.

Commas is based in Miami, Florida. Its founder and CEO is Yash Daftary.

In its July 2026 press release, Commas named sellers including Daymond John, Jeremy Miner, Alex Eubank, and Dan Fleyshman. It also named investors including Left Lane Capital and Ryan Serhant.

Those details help establish who is behind the platform. They do not prove that every seller on it delivers a good product, or that every merchant will be approved.

What did the rebrand mean for sellers?

The company, team, and infrastructure stayed the same. A new name did not mean sellers had to start fresh with a different business.

For more context, see our guide to what changed after the FanBasis rebrand.

What does legitimacy not tell you?

A real payment company can still hold funds, decline a business, or enforce its rules. A seller using a real platform can still face complaints about delivery or refunds.

I would separate those questions before making a decision: Is the platform real? Does it support your business? Are its written terms a good fit for your cash flow? Only the first question has a simple yes here.

How does FanBasis work, and is it a payment processor?

Commas provides payment processing through regulated payment partners, along with tools to create and sell digital offers. It is more than a payment link, but you should not assume it replaces every part of your current setup.

You can create an account, build an offer, set up checkout, and use tools for courses, coaching, paid communities, webinars, digital products, and services.

The platform includes an AI funnel builder, affiliate programs, and A/B testing. Webinars have native checkout, so selling and delivery can sit in the same account.

What happens when a buyer pays?

Commas supports 80+ local payment methods, including cards, wallets, crypto, Cash App, and SEPA. Its routing system sends payments through payment partners and can try another processor when one declines.

It also offers automatic failed-payment recovery. That is useful for recurring revenue, though it does not mean every missed payment will be recovered.

As sales clear, they appear in your Commas balance. The balance is visible in real time. A visible balance and cash in your bank are not the same thing, so plan around actual payout availability.

Will moving break your billing?

Commas says courses, members, and subscriptions can move with you. It says its team handles migration directly for larger sellers.

Before moving, ask how your specific subscriptions, billing dates, member access, and failed-payment flows will transfer. Test the full buyer journey before retiring your old setup.

Developers have a REST API and SDKs for Node, Python, PHP, and Ruby. Commas also lists 10,000+ app connections through Zapier.

Its public materials do not state its merchant-of-record status. Do not assume it takes over your sales tax or other legal duties. Our guide to what FanBasis is used for covers the core use cases in more detail.

How much does FanBasis cost compared with Whop and Stripe?

Commas is free to start, but it does not publish a processing rate card. Your fees depend on the features you turn on.

Commas told us they will match or beat your current rate.

That is worth exploring, but I would still ask for a written quote. A matched card rate is not enough if other charges change your total cost.

What should your quote include?

Ask for processing, financing, payouts, disputes, refunds, and any enabled platform features to be shown separately. Confirm which charges can apply to the same sale.

For financing, request the terms for each partner you expect to use. Commas told us its financing partners each have their own fees and payout terms. There is no sound basis for treating the whole suite as one rate.

Also ask how financed refunds work. You need to know what happens to seller fees, buyer payments, and settlement when a customer cancels.

Whop's published card price is easier to compare at a glance. Stripe also gives you a public starting point. Commas requires more work up front, but a custom quote may suit a seller with an established processing history.

Our FanBasis pricing breakdown goes deeper on the questions to ask. The right comparison is total cost for your actual sales mix, not the smallest headline rate.

Are Commas financing options useful for coaches and course sellers?

Financing is the strongest reason to put Commas on your shortlist. Its BNPL guide lists 10 partners, with financing amounts across the suite ranging from $30 to $465,000.

The upper limit is through Credit Key for B2B purchases. It is not a limit every buyer can access through every partner.

Important fit detailsClimb focuses on education; Credit Key supports B2B financing; Payva is exclusive to CommasCompare each provider's terms with your offer

That wider set matters when one financing product does not fit your buyer or offer. Education, business services, and consumer purchases can need different options.

But more partners do not make every buyer eligible. Sunbit has no credit score minimum, for example, which is not the same as saying every application will be approved.

What are the limits?

Commas financing applies to one-time purchases, not subscriptions. Most partners are US only. Sezzle covers the US and Canada.

If you sell a recurring membership, do not confuse financing with recurring billing. They solve different problems.

For coaches, the practical question is whether financing helps qualified buyers afford an offer without making its cost or terms unclear. Put delivery, cancellation, and refund rules in plain sight.

I would judge financing by net cash kept after fees and refunds, not just checkout volume. Ask how buyer complaints and seller refunds are handled before enabling a partner.

For another perspective, our Whop BNPL guide explains the alternative for sellers who prefer Whop's setup.

How fast does FanBasis pay out, and can Commas hold funds?

Commas told us standard payouts arrive in 2 business days. It offers 7 payout rails: ACH, RTP, wire, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, and crypto.

Confirm which methods are available for your account and country. Do not assume every rail has the same timing or terms.

Payout detailCommasWhopStripe US
Standard timing2 business days, according to CommasCan take up to 5 business days2 business days; first payout typically 7-14 days
Hold termsTerms allow holds up to 180 days for fraud, excessive chargebacks, or compliance reasonsTerms allow holding up to 100% of funds for up to 180 daysReserve terms are set per account; no fixed public hold length

Yes, Commas can hold funds. Routine payout speed does not override a risk review or account restriction. Excessive chargebacks can also lead to extra fees or suspension.

Multi-processor routing helps with payment handling. It does not remove compliance rules or make your balance immune from a hold.

What should you check before a big launch?

Tell the platform what you sell, how you deliver it, and when buyers receive it. Ask whether expected sales volume, ticket size, or a long delivery window could affect account terms.

Keep clear proof of delivery, refund records, and customer support messages. Avoid building your cash plan around every sale reaching the bank on the standard schedule.

Commas says sellers in 100+ countries get paid through the platform. That broad reach does not mean all financing partners serve those same countries.

Read our FanBasis payout speed guide if bank timing is your main reason for switching.

Who should choose Commas, and who should choose an alternative?

Choose Commas first if you sell coaching, courses, education, agency services, or high-ticket digital offers and need buyer financing. Its mix of checkout, funnels, delivery tools, and payment routing is the clearest reason to consider it.

Choose Whop as the runner-up for lower-ticket digital products and paid communities, especially when marketplace reach matters. Its public pricing also makes early cost checks easier.

Your priorityMy recommendationWhat to confirm
Financing for coaching or educationCommasPartner eligibility, fees, geography, and refund terms
Lower-ticket products and communitiesWhopFull cost with your chosen add-ons and payout method
Keep an existing Stripe setupCompare before movingWhether a new platform adds enough value to justify migration
Tax responsibility is the main concernClarify merchant-of-record scopeCommas does not state its status publicly; Whop handles tax as merchant of record only when Whop Collects and Remits is enabled

Commas does not accept adult entertainment businesses or OnlyFans management agencies. Do not apply on the assumption that all legal digital services qualify.

What would I do before signing?

Get category approval, an itemized quote, payout terms, and a migration plan in writing. If you sell subscriptions, test billing and member access. If you sell financed offers, review cancellation and refund handling.

Commas says white-glove onboarding can get sellers live in under 5 days. Treat that as its stated timeline, not a promise for a complex migration.

My final take: the strongest case for Commas is not a claim that it solves every payment problem. It is that financing, checkout, and digital delivery can work in one place.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is FanBasis a legit company?

Yes. FanBasis renamed to Commas on July 14, 2026. The legal company remains FanBasis, Inc., with the same team and infrastructure. That establishes the platform's identity, but it does not validate every seller or product sold through it.

Is FanBasis a payment processor?

Commas, the current brand, provides payment processing through regulated payment partners. It also offers checkout, funnels, courses, communities, and other selling tools. Its public materials do not state its merchant-of-record status.

How much does FanBasis cost?

Creating a Commas account is free. Processing prices are custom and depend on the features you use. Commas told us they will match or beat your current rate. Ask for a written quote that separates processing, financing, payouts, disputes, and platform features.

How does FanBasis work?

Sellers create digital offers and accept payments through what is now Commas. They can use its tools to deliver courses, coaching, communities, and other services. Cleared sales appear in the seller's balance, with payouts subject to account terms. Eligible one-time purchases can use financing; subscriptions cannot use that financing suite.

I have a charge from FanBasis on my credit card. What should I do?

Check your email receipts and recent purchases for a course, coaching offer, community, or digital service. Compare the date and amount, and ask any authorized card users. Contact the seller using your receipt or purchase records. If it remains unclear, contact platform support through an official channel. If you believe the charge is unauthorized, contact your card issuer promptly. Do not send anyone your full card number or security code.

How do I cancel my Fan Basis subscription and request a refund?

Start with your receipt, purchase confirmation, or account access. Look for subscription management or cancellation instructions. If you cannot find them, contact the seller and ask for written confirmation that future billing is canceled. Request a refund separately and cite the seller's refund terms. Cancellation does not automatically refund earlier payments. Keep copies of your messages, and contact platform support if the seller is unresponsive. For a financed purchase, also confirm how any refund affects the financing agreement.
