What Is FanBasis Used For? Sell, Teach, and Get Paid in One Place
FanBasis is now Commas. Here is what the platform does, how its financing works, and what to check before moving your business.

Free. A few quick questions. No credit check to see your match.
How much do you process per month?
You search for FanBasis and find Commas. Then you see checkout tools, courses, communities, and buyer financing listed together.
So what is it, exactly? A payment processor? A course platform? A way to let buyers pay over time?
It combines those jobs. That matters if you are tired of connecting separate tools just to sell and deliver one offer.
But an all-in-one platform is only useful if it fits your business. Financing terms, payment fees, and fund holds still matter. A clean checkout does not make those questions disappear.
Our view: Commas is a strong starting point for coaches, consultants, course sellers, and agencies, especially when buyers need financing. For a simple, lower-ticket digital product or paid community, Whop deserves a close look too.
This guide explains what you can use Commas for, how money moves through it, and what to ask before signing up.

What happened to FanBasis, and is Commas the same company?
FanBasis renamed to Commas on July 14, 2026. It is the same company, FanBasis, Inc., with the same team and infrastructure. Existing accounts kept working through the change.
That explains why older reviews, account references, and search results still say FanBasis. The old name does not identify a separate current platform.
Commas is headquartered in Miami, Florida. Its founder and CEO is Yash Daftary.
For a seller, the main point is simple: the rename was not a reason to open a second account or treat the platform as a new provider. If you are researching it now, use the Commas name when asking about current features and terms.
We would also separate brand history from account safety. A company keeping the same infrastructure does not mean every seller will have the same fees, payout access, or risk terms.
Read our guide to what changed when FanBasis became Commas for more context on the rename.
What is FanBasis used for by coaches, creators, and agencies?
Commas is used to create an offer, sell it, collect payment, and deliver digital content or services. Its main appeal is keeping those steps in one account instead of spreading them across separate tools.
Selling coaching and consulting
Coaches and consultants can use its checkout to sell their services. Buyer financing is a key reason to consider it when the full upfront price creates a barrier.
The useful question is not just whether you can take a card payment. It is whether your buyers can find a payment option that fits, and whether the cost of that option leaves you enough margin.
Delivering courses and education
Commas includes course tools, so a seller can handle sales and course delivery on the same platform. Its financing partner Climb focuses on education.
That makes it worth reviewing for education offers. Still, check that the course tools support how you teach before moving your content. A platform feature list is not a substitute for testing your own lessons.
Running paid communities
Paid communities are another core use. You can keep the community and its sales checkout within the same platform.
There is an important limit: Commas' financing applies to one-time purchases, not subscriptions. Do not plan a recurring membership around financed monthly renewals.
Selling through webinars and funnels
Commas includes an AI funnel builder, webinars with native checkout, affiliate programs, and A/B testing. These tools can support the path from a prospect learning about your offer to buying it.
For an agency or consultant, that can mean fewer separate systems to manage. For a seller who already likes their funnel and delivery tools, it is worth asking which features they would actually replace.
Taking payment for digital services
Commas supports digital products and services, making it relevant to agencies as well as individual creators. But category approval still matters.
Commas does not accept adult entertainment businesses or OnlyFans management agencies. Its broad digital-business positioning should not be read as approval for every legal business model.
How does FanBasis work, and is it a payment processor?
Yes, Commas provides payment processing as part of a broader selling platform. More precisely, payments run through regulated payment partners, and Commas routes payments across processors.
That is different from thinking of it as only a card checkout button. It also includes tools for selling and delivering what the buyer purchased.
Build the offer and checkout
You start by setting up what you sell and how buyers will purchase it. Depending on your needs, that can include a funnel, course, community, webinar, or digital service.
Creating an account is free. That does not mean every transaction or feature is free, so request a quote for your intended setup.
Let the buyer choose a payment method
Commas supports more than 80 local payment methods. These include cards, wallets, crypto, Cash App, and SEPA.
Its routing system sends a payment to the processor most likely to approve it and can retry through another processor if one declines. It also includes automatic failed-payment recovery.
Those tools address payment friction. They do not remove compliance checks, disputes, or the need for valid buyer authorization.
Track the balance and request payouts
Sales enter your Commas balance as they clear, and the balance is visible in real time. Commas offers 7 payout rails: ACH, RTP, wire, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, and crypto.
Commas told us standard payouts arrive in 2 business days. Clearing, reviews, and holds can still affect when money is available. We cover those distinctions in our guide to FanBasis and Commas payout speed.
Check what the platform does not promise
Commas' public materials do not state its merchant of record status. Do not assume that processing payments also means it takes over your sales tax duties or every compliance task.
Ask for written answers about tax, refunds, dispute handling, reporting, and account responsibilities before moving your checkout.
How does FanBasis financing help buyers pay for an offer?
Commas connects eligible one-time purchases with financing partners so buyers can apply to pay over time. Its BNPL guide lists 10 partners, with financing amounts across the suite ranging from $30 to $465,000.
That range is not available from every partner or for every buyer. The upper amount comes from Credit Key's B2B financing.
| Financing detail | Commas | Stripe US checkout |
|---|---|---|
| Listed financing options | 10 partners | 5 options |
| Partners | ClarityPay, Payva, Klarna, PayPal, Credit Key, Climb, Zip, Sezzle, Sunbit, Special Financing Company | Affirm, Afterpay, Klarna, Zip, Sunbit |
| Notable fit | Education through Climb, B2B through Credit Key, and Payva as a Commas exclusive | Financing options within Stripe checkout |
The practical value is choice. An education buyer and a business buying services may need different financing products.
Sunbit has no credit score minimum. That does not mean every application is approved. Each partner has its own requirements, fees, and payout terms.
Geography also matters. Most partners are US only; Sezzle covers the US and Canada. A seller's ability to receive payments in their country does not establish that their buyers can access every financing option.
Our advice is to compare net cash collected, not just applications or order value. Ask what the seller pays, when funds arrive, and how refunds affect a financed purchase.
Financing can address affordability. It cannot fix unclear promises, poor delivery, or buyers choosing an offer that is wrong for them.

What does FanBasis cost, and when is Whop a better fit?
Commas does not publish a rate card. Fees depend on the features you turn on. Commas told us they will match or beat your current rate.
We would treat that statement as a reason to request a written quote, not as a substitute for one. Your total cost depends on more than the headline card rate.
| Item | Commas | Whop | Stripe US |
|---|---|---|---|
| Domestic card processing | Custom pricing; no public rate card | 2.7% + $0.30 | 2.9% + $0.30 |
| Starting or monthly cost | Free to create an account; feature fees depend on setup | No monthly fee | No monthly fee |
| Financing pricing | Partner-specific fees and payout terms | 15% per financed transaction | Zip: 4.5% + $0.30; Klarna: 5.99% + $0.30; Affirm, Afterpay, and Sunbit: 6% + $0.30 |
| Standard payout timing | 2 business days, according to Commas | Can take up to 5 business days | 2 business days in the US; first payout typically 7-14 days |
These figures are not a full account quote. International payments, selected features, disputes, and payout choices can change the total.
When we would start with Commas
Commas is our primary pick for coaches, consultants, education sellers, agencies, and higher-priced digital offers. It is especially relevant when financing and built-in delivery tools solve real needs.
It also makes sense to evaluate if you want checkout, funnels, courses, webinars, and communities in one account.
When we would look closely at Whop
Whop is our honest runner-up for lower-ticket digital products and paid communities, especially when marketplace reach matters. Its published domestic card rate gives sellers a clear starting point for cost comparisons.
Check optional add-ons before deciding. A base processing rate does not tell you the final cost of your chosen setup.
Our Commas versus Whop comparison looks more closely at those trade-offs. If Whop better matches your offer, you can explore Whop's seller platform.
What should you check before moving your business to Commas?
Confirm category fit, total fees, payout terms, and migration details before moving live sales. This is where a useful platform becomes either a good business fit or an expensive mismatch.
Commas says sellers can be live in under 5 days with white-glove onboarding. Treat that as its stated onboarding claim, not a firm deadline for your specific account.
Get the money terms in writing
Ask for the full fee schedule for the features you plan to use. Include card payments, financing, refunds, disputes, and your preferred payout method.
Ask which financing partners fit your offer and buyer locations. More listed partners only help if the relevant programs are available to your customers.
Understand the risk terms
Commas' terms allow funds to be held for up to 180 days for fraud, excessive chargebacks, or compliance reasons. Multi-processor routing does not remove that right.
Keep clear offer terms, proof of delivery, and a refund process buyers can find. Ask how account reviews and disputes will be handled before a problem occurs.
Test the move, not just the demo
Commas says courses, members, and subscriptions can move with you, and its team handles migration directly for larger sellers. Ask which records move, what needs manual work, and how existing billing will be tested.
For enterprise needs, Commas lists a dedicated implementation engineer, chargeback handling, and 1099 support. Confirm the exact scope included in your agreement.
Our verdict: Commas is most useful when you need more than payment acceptance. Its strongest fit is a digital business that wants sales tools, delivery, and buyer financing together.
You can create a Commas account and request a quote. Bring your current processing statement and a list of the tools you want to replace.
Verified September 2026 using Commas materials and direct communications recorded in Processor Verdict's fact sheet, plus Stripe's published pricing for the Stripe comparison. Confirm your account-specific terms before switching.
