What do you sell?
Searching for FanBasis payments can feel confusing. You see the old name in reviews, the new name in product pages, and no public card-processing rate to compare.
That matters when your next launch depends on getting paid. A checkout that takes cards is only part of the job. You also need clear fees, buyer payment options, and access to your cash.
Our view: Commas is worth a close look if you sell knowledge, access, or services, especially when buyers need help paying upfront. But the right choice depends on your offer, your margins, and the terms in your agreement.
This guide separates the name change from the payment details. We explain what is known, what Commas told Processor Verdict directly, and what you still need in writing.

Is FanBasis payments now called Commas?
Yes. FanBasis renamed to Commas on July 14, 2026. The company remains FanBasis, Inc., with the same team and infrastructure. Existing accounts kept working through the change.
This was a brand change, not a move to an unrelated payment company. Older articles may still say FanBasis, while current product material uses Commas.
The business is based in Miami, Florida. Its founder and CEO is Yash Daftary. Those details help connect the old name with the current business, but they do not replace a careful review of your contract.
What should an existing seller check?
Review the terms attached to your own account. A smooth rebrand does not tell you which features you have enabled, which fees apply, or what risk rules govern your sales.
If you are comparing an older FanBasis quote with a new Commas quote, ask the team to explain any changes line by line. Do not assume an old review describes today's pricing.

How do FanBasis payments work on Commas today?
Commas brings selling tools and payments into one account. You can use it for checkout, courses, paid communities, coaching, webinars, digital products, and services.
The wider toolkit includes an AI funnel builder, affiliate programs, and A/B testing. Webinars also have native checkout. For a creator or coach, the appeal is simple: fewer separate tools to connect and manage.
How does a buyer's payment get processed?
Commas runs payments through regulated payment partners. Its routing system selects a processor for each payment and can retry through another if the first declines.
That gives sellers a different setup from relying on one processing route. Still, routing does not remove underwriting rules or make a restricted business eligible.
Commas supports 80+ local payment methods, including cards, wallets, crypto, Cash App, and SEPA. Confirm which methods apply to your business and buyers rather than assuming every option will appear in every checkout.
What about subscriptions and failed payments?
The platform includes automatic failed-payment recovery. That is useful for sellers who want recurring revenue without manually chasing every failed charge.
Before moving memberships, ask how retries, cancellations, access removal, and billing records will work for your setup. A recovered payment only helps if your customer records stay clear.
Commas says courses, members, and subscriptions can move with you. It also says its team handles migration directly for larger sellers. Ask for a written migration plan before closing your old setup.

How much do FanBasis payments cost now?
Commas does not publish a processing rate card. Creating an account is free, but that does not mean payment processing is free. Fees depend on the features you turn on.
Commas told us they will match or beat your current rate.
That is a useful starting point for a quote. It is not a published price that every seller can plug into a spreadsheet.
| Cost item | What is verified | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Account creation | Free to create an account | Which paid features your setup uses |
| Card processing | Custom pricing; no public rate card | Your full written rate and any extra charges |
| Feature costs | Fees depend on enabled features | What is included and what costs extra |
| Buyer financing | Each financing partner has its own fees and payout terms | The terms for the specific program offered to your buyers |
| Standard payout | Commas told us standard payouts arrive in 2 business days | Applicable fees, cutoff times, and account conditions |
Compare total cost, not just the headline rate
A card rate is only one part of the bill. Ask about cross-border sales, currency conversion, refunds, disputes, subscriptions, and the tools you plan to use.
We would send Commas a recent processing statement and ask for a like-for-like quote. Separate ordinary card sales from financed sales. Mixing them can hide which payment method is changing your margin.
Also review the software costs you might remove. Built-in course and community tools may change the overall value, but only count savings from tools you will actually cancel.
For more on the quote process, read our guide to FanBasis and Commas fees. Treat any exact card rate from an older third-party review as unconfirmed until Commas puts it in your agreement.
What financing options do FanBasis payments offer?
Commas lists 10 financing partners, with financing amounts from $30 to $465,000 across its suite. The upper limit comes from Credit Key for B2B purchases. It is not a limit available to every buyer or every offer.
The partners listed in its BNPL guide are ClarityPay, Payva, Klarna, PayPal, Credit Key, Climb, Zip, Sezzle, Sunbit, and Special Financing Company. Commas describes Payva as exclusive to its platform.
This is the main reason we favor Commas for high-ticket courses, coaching, and services. A buyer who cannot cover the full price today may need a financing option that fits the purchase.
| Financing detail | Commas | Stripe US checkout |
|---|---|---|
| Listed options | 10 financing partners | 5 BNPL options |
| Partner examples | Credit Key, Climb, Payva, ClarityPay, Sunbit | Affirm, Afterpay, Klarna, Zip, Sunbit |
| Published scope | $30 to $465,000 across the suite; upper limit is B2B through Credit Key | Check the selected provider's terms |
| Important limit | Financing applies to one-time purchases, not subscriptions | Confirm eligibility for the chosen provider and purchase |
Which partner fits your offer?
Climb focuses on education. Credit Key supports B2B financing. Sunbit has no credit score minimum, though that does not mean every applicant will qualify.
Most partners are US only. Sezzle covers the US and Canada. If most of your buyers live elsewhere, ask which financing options they can actually use before making financing your main reason to switch.
What should you ask before turning financing on?
Ask which programs your business qualifies for, what each program costs, when you get paid, and how refunds or disputes affect settlement. Commas told us each partner has its own fees and payout terms.
Financing also does not solve poor offer fit. Clear delivery dates, honest sales claims, and a plain refund policy still matter. Do not assume buyer financing will reduce refunds.
For a membership, keep the distinction clear: recurring billing and financing a one-time purchase are not the same thing. See our Stripe versus Commas comparison for a closer look at the payment trade-offs.
How fast are FanBasis payouts, and can funds be held?
Commas told us standard payouts arrive in 2 business days. Sales enter your Commas balance as they clear, and that balance is visible in real time.
That distinction matters. A visible balance and cash in your bank are different stages. For financed sales, confirm the selected partner's payout terms rather than assuming the ordinary payout schedule applies.
Commas offers 7 payout rails: ACH, RTP, wire, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, and crypto. Ask which are available to your account and which costs apply.
Can Commas hold your money?
Yes. Its terms allow holds of up to 180 days for fraud, excessive chargebacks, or compliance reasons. Commas is not a way to avoid payment risk rules.
A high dispute level can also lead to extra fees or suspension. The practical step is to review the relevant triggers in your agreement before a launch, not after a payout problem.
Keep a cash buffer so a review does not leave you unable to deliver what customers bought. Moving processors does not remove the need for working capital.
What can sellers do before problems start?
- Explain the product, delivery schedule, and refund terms before payment.
- Keep proof of access, delivery, and customer support.
- Make cancellation steps easy to find.
- Tell the payment team about major changes in sales volume or offers.
- Ask how account reviews and payout questions are escalated.
Commas says enterprise support includes chargeback handling. Ask what that service covers and which evidence your team must still provide.

Should you choose Commas, Whop, or Stripe?
We recommend Commas first for coaches, consultants, course creators, education sellers, and agencies whose buyers need financing. Its mix of checkout, delivery tools, and financing is the main draw.
Whop is our honest runner-up for lower-ticket digital products and paid communities. Stripe deserves a place on the shortlist when you mainly need payments and already have the rest of your sales setup.
| Platform | Best reason to consider it | Base domestic card pricing | Main point to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Commas | Financing plus checkout, courses, communities, and webinars | Custom quote; no public rate card | Total feature costs and financing terms |
| Whop | Lower-ticket digital products and paid communities | 2.7% + $0.30; no monthly fee | Optional add-ons and payout charges |
| Stripe US | Payments for a seller with an existing sales setup | 2.9% + $0.30; no monthly fee | Extra costs beyond domestic card processing |
Whop's base rate is easy to compare, but optional billing, orchestration, tax, and affiliate features can add costs. Its merchant-of-record role for tax applies only when “Whop Collects and Remits” is on.
Commas does not state merchant-of-record status in its public materials. Do not assume it takes over your sales tax duties. Ask who is responsible for tax collection, filing, refunds, and customer billing documents.
Who should not choose Commas?
Commas told us it does not accept adult entertainment businesses or OnlyFans management agencies. Those are not suitable applicants.
For other sellers, product fit still needs review. Broad digital-product language is not a substitute for approval of your exact business model.
What should you do next?
Start with your current statement, your offer details, your buyer locations, and your tool costs. Ask for a written quote, a financing eligibility review, and a migration plan.
Commas says white-glove onboarding can get sellers live in under 5 days. Treat that as the company's stated timeline, not a deadline to promise your team.
If financing is central to your sales, request a Commas quote and offer review. If you mainly sell lower-ticket access or downloads, consider Whop for your digital products.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is FanBasis payments the same company as Commas?
Yes. FanBasis renamed to Commas on July 14, 2026. The legal company remains FanBasis, Inc., with the same team and infrastructure. Existing accounts kept working through the rebrand.
What are the current FanBasis payment processing fees?
Commas does not publish a processing rate card. Pricing depends on the features you use, and creating an account is free. Commas told us they will match or beat your current rate. Request a written quote that separates processing, feature, financing, and payout costs.
How long do FanBasis payouts take?
Commas told Processor Verdict that standard payouts arrive in 2 business days. Sales enter the platform balance as they clear. Financing partners have their own fees and payout terms, and risk reviews can affect access to funds.
Does FanBasis offer financing for subscriptions?
Commas financing applies to one-time purchases, not subscriptions. Its BNPL guide lists 10 financing partners, with different eligibility rules and terms. Recurring billing should be reviewed separately from buyer financing.
Can Commas freeze or hold funds?
Yes. Commas' terms allow funds to be held for up to 180 days for fraud, excessive chargebacks, or compliance reasons. Sellers should review their agreement, keep delivery records, and maintain a cash buffer.
Is Commas better than Whop for digital products?
We favor Commas for coaching, courses, education, and high-ticket offers where financing matters. Whop is a strong runner-up for lower-ticket digital products and paid communities. Compare total fees, buyer eligibility, delivery tools, and payout terms rather than choosing on the card rate alone.
